While scouting around while Kevin is resting I came across this skull and shoe. I believe it belonged to a horse. If anyone can identify what kind it is post it on the blog. I'm keeping the shoe, I'm sure it means good luck!

the skull looks a lot like this girl T-Roy used to date years ago at Georgia College....same overbite
ReplyDeleteFollowing Kevin's race from Tacoma, WA.
ReplyDeleteAs a curator for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK...the horse skull appears to be that of a Prezewalski's Horse. At one time near extinction, was thought to have been saved by the East Indians and brought to the Americas via Beringia, a land bridge which formerly connected the two continents (asia and north america) across what is now the Bering Strait. These Paleoamericans soon spread throughout the Americas, bringing this ancient horse with them.
ReplyDeletePer your photograph, technically speaking, if you look at this horse's poll, the bony point at the very top the skull located slightly behind and right between the horse's ear, it reflects that of the Prezewalski. This is actually a fairly rare find and of some value.
Btw, I am an avid follower of RAAM and found Kevin's blogsight via the RAAM Website. Quite impressive ride~!
