Back rollin' with the Kaiser

Don't put too much thought into his long time on the last segment between ts35 and ts36. He slept 4 a solid 3hrs, got a shower, and got fed. Thanks to Dr. Tim, Wendy G., and Tammi P. for their advice on the swelling. Kevin has refused endurolytes the past 2 days because he hasn't been sweating as much and felt the salty foods were enough sodium. We have him alternating between straight water and ensure along with 2 endurolytes per hour. After consulting with Tim he may need some high quality protein so the ensure with soy should help. He's also munching on bananas, oranges, and subs. He's cruising around 15-17mph in the Illinois farmlands.
Roll Kaiser Roll,
Troy

  5. Please say a prayer for this Spanish RAAM participant...

WICHITA, Kansas – A bicyclist was critically hurt this morning when he was hit by a car in NE Sedgwick County just before 7 o’clock on K-254 near 159th St. E.

Troopers say the cyclist, Diego Ballesteros Cucurull, of Spain, was heading east when he was hit by a car going the same direction. Cucurull was part of a group taking part in the Race Across America.

“We do have these individuals that are biking across America, we’ve seen them in the last couple days going across here and it's still under investigation,” said Trooper Jeff Schawe with the Kansas Highway Patrol. “No reason why, but a vehicle left his lane of travel, went over to the shoulder and strike this bicycle.”

Cucurull was airlifted to a Wichita hospital where in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to serious condition.

    Stay safe Kevin!

  6. Kevin.....getting ready to put my kiddos to bed and I just read the above post. Ugh - stay safe as you press on in your journey of a lifetime. "The poor man is not he who is without a cent but he who is without a DREAM."

Crank up a little Aerosmith for this part of the trip:

“Dream On” is the first single by Aerosmith from their 1973 debut album, Aerosmith. Written by lead singer Steven Tyler, this blues-influenced power ballad became their first major hit.

Every time I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
    The past is gone
It goes by, like dusk to dawn
    Isn't that the way
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

    Yeah, I know nobody knows
where it comes and where it goes
    I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win

    Half my life
    is in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and
    from sages
    You know it's true
All the things come back to you

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away

Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Dream On Dream On Dream On
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream On Dream On Dream On
Dream until your dream comes through
Dream On Dream On Dream On
    Dream On Dream On
    Dream On Dream On

Sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Sing with me, sing for the year
sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away......

    Dream on baby............Press on!!!!
